ISLE OF WIGHT FOLLIES GUIDED WALKS

Guided walks where real Island history meets mythological adventure.

The Isle of Wight is full of beaches, views, cafés and places to relax, but beneath the surface are stories, inventions, oddities, legends and historical surprises waiting to be found.

Professor Follies is your guide to the Island’s stranger side, where real history and mythological imagination walk side by side.

Each guided walk has two layers:

1. Historically grounded

Explore real places, overlooked stories, local characters and curious details from the Island’s past.

2. Mythologically imagined

Follow creatures, clues, field notes and folklore as Professor Follies turns the same route into a family adventure, aided by the Isle of Wight passport.

One route. Two ways to enjoy it.

For adults, there is history, scenery and local discovery. For younger explorers, there are creatures, stories and clues to follow. A walk they might have endured becomes one they can actually enjoy.

And as Professor Follies keeps reminding us, truth is often far stranger than fiction.

The newest guided walk.

One walking pass unlocks every available guided walk, with stage-by-stage content, stories, creature pages and places to visit while you explore.

Walk on the Island, revisit online, and keep discovering as new Follies routes are added.

THE ISLE OF WIGHT PASSPORT

The Isle of Wight Passport is your physical companion to the mythological layer of the Follies adventure.

Add your photo, write your name, record your discoveries, colour creature sightings, scan live creature pages and submit your own reports to Island News.

It is part activity book, part quest log and part keepsake from your Isle of Wight adventure.

Professor Follies works tirelessly to document the Island’s most unusual mythical observations, questionable sightings and suspiciously well-timed creature reports.

Read the latest discoveries, enjoy the stories, and submit your own report from the trail.
