But, the truth is... many people never start writing.

They think they’re “not creative.”They don’t know where to begin. They worry that they’ll get it wrong. They don’t believe they’re allowed.

We exist to change that.

Whether you're crafting a 500-word picture book for a child or a 120,000-word fantasy epic, every story begins the same way: with a flicker of inspiration.

Inspiration isn’t rare. It’s not a lightning bolt. It’s not a gift handed down from the divine.

It’s found in the shape of a tree. The ozone smell of the sea after rainfall. The way someone once looked at you in silence after you told that joke you know. It’s found in moments we usually overlook or take for granted in the moment, but realise what we had in hindsight.

Our role, as game-makers, writers, and community builders, is to help people see those moments clearly again.

Follies Creatives is exclusive to the Isle of Wight.

If you're on the Isle of Wight, walk the trails, scan the tags, meet other questers, and attend creative writing sessions at local cafes, maybe even during a follies hunt!

There might be times when creative writing sessions are done over Zoom, including those who might require a bonus session, or for whom walking along Alum Bay isn't viable.
