Isle of Wight Follies is now FREEEEEEEE to play

Professor Follies

There is confusion across the Isle of Wight’s mythical community. Only recently, several creatures were celebrating what they believed to be an astonishing act of generosity: access to the Isle of Wight Follies for just £3 if you owned the Passport or anthology. There were speeches. There were refreshments. One dragon apparently ordered bunting. And now? £0. Free. Completely free to join and free to play. The creatures are, understandably, scratching their heads. The Ryde Sea Serpent is said to have asked whether Professor Follies has finally lost control of the accounts department. A Griffin in Cowes reportedly muttered, “What next? Follies pays them?” This suggestion has been formally rejected on the grounds of being ridiculous. Probably. The important point is this: The Isle of Wight Follies is now free to explore. Not “free for a trial”. Not “free until Stage Three”. Not “free until a payment screen jumps out from behind a bush”. Free. You can join for £0 and explore the Follies from home, on your phone, on the ferry or out on location around the Island. The platform brings together story-led guided adventures, real Isle of Wight history, mythical creatures, clues, local discoveries and places worth visiting along the way. There are larger guided adventures in Ryde, Cowes, Newport and Yarmouth, alongside a wider network of creature locations across the Island. And because there is no paid entry barrier anymore, you can simply dip in and out whenever you like. Do one stage. Come back later. Explore another town. Read a strange report. Follow a clue. Find somewhere new. That is the whole idea. The physical Isle of Wight Passport still exists, of course, but it is now exactly what it should be: an optional physical companion to the adventure. It is a quest log, activity book, creature guide and keepsake. You do not need one to play. You do not need to pay to join. You do not need to buy anything to continue. The Passport is simply there for people who want something tangible to carry, collect in and keep. The anthology is also there for anyone who wants to go deeper into the stories and mythology. Again, optional. The Follies itself remains free. The reason for the change is simple. We want more people exploring the Isle of Wight. We want families to have another reason to get out and walk. We want visitors to discover places they might otherwise pass by. We want Islanders to see familiar places differently. And we want local businesses to benefit when those explorers start looking for somewhere to eat, drink, browse, visit or recover after spending twenty minutes examining a suspiciously shaped rock. So yes, the creatures may still be confused. Only recently, they were celebrating £3 access. Now they are wondering whether the next announcement will be: “Professor Follies to pay Questers for turning up.” It will not. Let us not get carried away. But the game itself? FREEEEEEEE. £0 to join. £0 to play. No subscription required. Go and investigate. IsleOfWightFollies.com The Island is stranger than it looks.
