Professor Follies
After what officials describe as "an unusually productive afternoon", Professor Follies has announced the launch of the Follies Fund, a new initiative designed to give something back to the Isle of Wight.
The announcement follows years of Professor Follies wandering around the Island, interviewing mythical creatures, drinking an unhealthy number of cups of tea and repeatedly pointing at beautiful views while muttering, "Someone really ought to look after this."
Fortunately, somebody has.
Every time someone purchases an Isle of Wight Follies walking pass, a percentage of the sale will now be allocated to the Follies Fund.
The aim is simple.
Help protect the very places that make exploring the Isle of Wight such a pleasure.
Potential recipients could include beach clean groups, wildlife conservation projects, footpath maintenance, community initiatives and other organisations helping to keep the Island a wonderful place to live and explore.
When questioned whether this made Isle of Wight Follies a charity, Professor Follies adjusted his spectacles and replied,
"Good heavens, no. We simply believe every adventure should leave something positive behind."
Visitors will also be able to nominate worthy Island projects through the Follies website, while future recipients may even be chosen with help from public voting.
Initial reports suggest the Island's dragons have cautiously welcomed the announcement, provided no one attempts to clean their caves without permission.
Mermaids declined to comment but were later observed quietly removing discarded fishing line from the seabed.
Several fairies reportedly spent the afternoon polishing wildflowers.
Meanwhile, the Ryde Sea Serpent has issued a brief statement reminding visitors that crisp packets are considerably less appetising than they appear.
Professor Follies concluded the announcement by saying,
"The Isle of Wight has given us stories, adventures and memories for generations. It seems only right that every walk helps care for the place that inspired them."
Residents are advised that the fund currently contains precisely £0.00, which experts describe as "an excellent place to start."
After all, every legend begins somewhere.

walking can save your health and the isle of wight.
